Chapter 5 - A New Horizon Above the Clouds

Six months later, the private hangar at a secluded airfield outside Milan hummed with a very different kind of energy than the commercial terminals of New York.
Evelyn Foster stood on the polished concrete floor, wearing a tailored charcoal-grey blazer that mirrored the absolute authority she now commanded. No longer bound by the rigid, cost-cutting constraints of commercial aviation, she looked out over a pristine, custom-fitted Bombardier Global 7500 private jet—a flying palace outfitted with cream-leather seating, private executive suites, and state-of-the-art security communications arrays.
As the lead coordinator of Vitelli Global Aviation, Evelyn didn't push beverage carts or answer call buttons anymore. She managed an elite fleet of private aircraft, overseeing high-security logistics, VIP transport, and international transit for a clientele whose identities and business dealings shaped global markets.
Footsteps echoed across the hangar floor.
Antonio Vitelli walked up beside her, dressed in a sharp black overcoat, carrying a sleek leather briefcase. He stopped and looked up at the gleaming titanium fuselage of the jet, then turned his gaze toward Evelyn.
"The flight plan to Geneva has been cleared by Swiss airspace control," Evelyn reported, her voice smooth, confident, and utterly unflappable. "Security details are in place at both ends. The crew has been vetted twice."
Antonio smiled—a genuine, rare expression that completely transformed the hard lines of his face. "You always were far too thorough for commercial airlines, Evelyn."

"Well," Evelyn replied, her lips curving into a sharp, knowing smile as she handed him his digital flight manifest, "when you spend years dealing with turbulence, you learn how to keep the plane steady no matter who is sitting in seat 2A."
Antonio took the manifest, his dark eyes locking onto hers with profound respect. He didn't offer empty promises or underworld platitudes. He simply nodded, turned toward the open boarding stairs of the magnificent aircraft, and stepped inside—leaving behind the ghosts of the past, secure in the knowledge that the skies had finally been conquered by someone who could never be broken.
