Chapter 5 - A New Engine, A New Life

Three weeks later, the morning sun shone brilliantly over the manicured lawns of Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland.
The crisp autumn air carried the promise of a fresh beginning. Inside a bright, sun-drenched recovery suite, twelve-year-old Toby sat propped up against a mountain of pillows, eating a bowl of ice cream with a healthy flush returning to his cheeks.
The experimental bone marrow treatment had been an overwhelming success. His immune system was rebuilding, and the shadow of illness was finally lifting from his life.
The door opened softly, and Clarina walked into the room, holding a freshly delivered package. She wore a sharp, bespoke blazer—no apron, no oversized uniform.
"Guess what arrived from the UK today, Tobe?" Clarina asked with a bright smile.
Toby looked up eagerly. "Is it the plaque?"
"Better," Clarina laughed, pulling a gleaming glass trophy from the box.
It was an official commemorative plaque from Cosworth and Aston Martin, officially welcoming Clarina Wells back as the Chief Director of Powertrain Engineering, complete with a handwritten note of apology from the company's board of directors and a full financial settlement that secured her family's future for generations to come.
More importantly, it featured a custom-engraved blueprint of the Valkyrie engine with a tiny inscription at the base: To the engineer who always knows the right move.
Toby grinned widely, looking up at his older sister with absolute awe. "Does this mean you're done pouring coffee?"

Clarina walked over, ruffled her brother's dark hair, and looked out the hospital window toward the horizon, where a sleek black sports car sat parked below in the visitors' lot.
"Yeah, Tobe," Clarina whispered, her heart overflowing with profound, unshakeable peace. "I think we're finally ready to shift into high gear."
