Chapter 3 - The Conspiracy of the Elite

Noah looked down at the checkbook, then raised his eyes to meet Victor’s intense gaze. A quiet, knowing smile touched the corners of the boy’s lips.
"I told you yesterday, Mr. Hale," Noah said calmly, pushing the checkbook back across the table with a single finger. "You still think everything in this world can be bought."
Victor froze. The rejection stung—not because he was used to people turning down his money, but because the boy was entirely right. For years, Victor had believed that wealth was a shield against tragedy, a tool that could conquer any obstacle, even biology itself. To be lectured on human value by a cleaner's son in a cramped staff room was a humbling blow to his pride.
Before Victor could reply, his cell phone buzzed violently in his pocket. He pulled it out, seeing the caller ID flashing: Dr. Alistair Vance.
Victor pressed accept, bringing the phone to his ear. "Vance? What is it?"
"Mr. Hale, you need to get down to the corporate board room immediately," Vance’s voice crackled through the speaker, breathless and laced with panic. "The medical board—they've seized Isabella's new scans. They're convening an emergency disciplinary hearing."
"A hearing? On what grounds?" Victor’s voice spiked with sudden fury.
"They're claiming medical fraud," Vance said grimly. "They argue that if Isabella's recovery is authentic, it invalidates millions of dollars in ongoing patent research for artificial retinal implants currently funded by our major pharmaceutical partners. They're trying to classify her recovery as an unverified anomaly, and they've filed a court injunction to place her under institutional quarantine for psychiatric evaluation."
The phone line seemed to go dead silent around Victor. A cold, lethal rage surged through his veins. The medical establishment—the very institutions he had poured fortunes into—were not celebrating a miraculous medical breakthrough. They were terrified of it. Because if a blind girl could be cured with a handful of garden soil and a child's intuition, an entire multi-billion-dollar industry centered on permanent disability management would collapse overnight.
"Tell them," Victor whispered, his voice dangerously low, "that if any member of that board steps foot near my daughter, I will liquidate every single share I hold in their conglomerate, strip their funding, and publish every dirty financial audit my private investigators have gathered on them over the past decade."
He hung up without waiting for a response.
Victor stood in the small staff room, his chest heaving. He looked at Maria, then down at Noah. The corporate sharks were circling, and they were coming for his family—and by extension, for the boy.
"Pack your bags," Victor ordered briskly, though his tone had shifted from commanding to fiercely protective.
Maria panicked, dropping a dish towel. "Mr. Hale, please! We didn't want any trouble—"
"You're not in trouble, Maria," Victor interrupted, grabbing his phone again to dial his head of security. "The medical board is trying to silence us. They want to take Isabella back, and they want to interrogate Noah to steal whatever knowledge he has. We are leaving this estate within the hour."

Within twenty minutes, a convoy of armored black SUVs roared up to the staff quarters. Victor personally escorted Maria and Noah into the lead vehicle, while a second security detail rushed upstairs to secure Isabella.
As the convoy sped through the gates of the sprawling estate and headed out toward an undisclosed safehouse in the rugged countryside, the war between corporate greed and ancient, uncorrupted healing had officially begun.
