Chapter 4 - The Corporate Warfare

By morning, the corporate war had officially begun.

St. Jude Memorial Hospital issued a heavily publicized press release praising their "world-class emergency medical team" for successfully managing a complex pediatric crisis, while subtly hinting that an unauthorized civilian had nearly compromised the sterile environment. Local news outlets, heavily influenced by hospital advertising revenue, began running sanitized versions of the story.

Kesha and her mother, Martha, sat in the living room of the luxury temporary apartment provided by William, watching the morning news in stunned silence. On the screen, a slick news anchor was interviewing CEO Julian Vance, who smiled smugly into the camera.

"At St. Jude, our protocols are absolute," Julian stated smoothly. "While we understand that an observant child was present in the lobby, medical miracles are achieved through years of rigorous training and sterile science—not random civilian intervention."

Martha wiped a tear from her cheek, turning to William, who stood by the window with his arms crossed. "Mr. Thornton... they're calling us liars. They're saying Kesha endangered your baby. We can't fight people like that. They own judges, politicians, hospitals..."

William walked over, kneeling gently in front of Martha and looking directly at Kesha, who sat quietly on the sofa holding a brand-new sketchpad William had bought her.

"Martha, listen to me," William said with absolute conviction. "They don't own the truth. And in about ten minutes, they won't even own this hospital."

True to his word, William had spent the entire night deploying his vast financial empire and corporate intelligence network. He didn't just hire lawyers; he mobilized a hostile financial takeover of St. Jude Memorial Hospital’s parent healthcare conglomerate.

At 9:00 AM sharp, trading of the healthcare corporation's stock was suddenly halted by the SEC.

Simultaneously, federal marshals and state health inspectors—armed with unsealed warrants obtained through whistleblower testimonies and unedited lobby security footage provided by William’s private hackers—stormed the administrative offices of St. Jude Memorial Hospital.

Julian Vance was sitting in his executive office bragging about the PR victory when the heavy oak doors burst open. Federal agents walked in, slamming a thick stack of subpoena documents onto his desk.

"Julian Vance, you are being served with federal indictments for securities fraud, falsification of official medical records, obstruction of justice, and conspiracy to commit defamation," the lead federal agent announced, snapping steel handcuffs onto the CEO’s wrists.

"This is insane! You can't do this! Do you know who my brother is?!" Julian shrieked, struggling as he was dragged out past rows of shocked medical staff.

Down in the lobby, Marcus Vance tried to block reporters outside the hospital entrance, only to be ambushed by a swarm of investigative journalists who had just received an anonymous, fully transparent data package containing the unedited security footage of Kesha saving Benjamin’s life—and the internal emails proving the hospital's conspiracy to cover it up.
