Chapter 5 - A New Horizon

Two months later, the autumn chill gave way to a crisp, vibrant afternoon in downtown Denver.

Naomi Bennett sat at a corner table of an upscale rooftop restaurant overlooking the sprawling city skyline, sipping a glass of sparkling water. Across from her sat Miranda Stone, looking impeccably chic in a cream cashmere turtleneck.

“I have to hand it to you,” Miranda said, sliding a final, signed legal document across the table. “I’ve practiced family and corporate law for twenty years, and I have never seen a more textbook execution of poetic justice. Garrett is currently living in a studio apartment above a mechanic’s shop, trying to sell his failed startup equipment on Craigslist to pay off Sienna’s legal debts.”

“How is Sienna?” Naomi asked calmly, signing her name on the final line of the settlement agreement with her gold fountain pen.

“From what I hear, she packed up her things and moved back in with her parents in Ohio,” Miranda chuckled, taking a sip of her champagne. “Turns out royal tastes don't look so glamorous when you're working the front desk at a local Holiday Inn.”

Naomi closed the folder and slid it back across the table. The divorce was officially finalized. The prenup had held up effortlessly, protecting every single dollar of her hard-earned empire, while Garrett walked away with exactly what he deserved: nothing.

“And you?” Miranda asked, her tone softening with genuine warmth. “How are you holding up, Naomi? Really?”

Naomi looked out past the glass railing of the rooftop terrace. The sky was a brilliant, unblemished blue, stretching out endlessly toward the Rocky Mountains in the distance. For eight years, she had carried the weight of a stagnant marriage, believing that love meant enduring mediocrity and carrying a partner who refused to stand on his own two feet.

Now, looking out at the city she helped build, she felt lighter than air. Her portfolio was thriving, TechVista Solutions was operating under pristine new leadership, and her heart—though bruised—was completely unburdened.

“I’ve never felt better,” Naomi said, a genuine, radiant smile touching her lips. “It’s amazing how much clearer the view is once you clear out the dead weight.”

She raised her glass of sparkling water toward the horizon, ready for whatever chapter came next.
