Chapter 5 - A New Empire and the Sweetest Victory

Six months later, the autumn breeze sweeping across the Texas hill country carried the crisp, clean scent of a brand-new beginning.
The corporate headquarters of Rowan Meridian—now officially rebranded as Meridian Global Estates—was operating under entirely new management. The corrupt old guard, including Margaret Rowan, had been permanently excised from the corporate ecosystem, their remaining shares bought out at baseline statutory value to satisfy unpaid tax liens and legal settlements.
Evan Rowan was currently facing a federal grand jury indictment for corporate fraud, wire embezzlement, and conspiracy, while Leah Mason was fighting multiple civil lawsuits filed by both Marcus Vance’s legal team and our corporate recovery division. My phone buzzed softly on the glass table behind me.
I walked back inside and glanced at the screen. It was a secure notification from my chief financial officer confirming that our Q3 international acquisitions had cleared successfully, positioning Meridian Global Estates as the largest real-estate fund in the Southwest.
I smiled, feeling a deep, profound sense of peace settle over my soul.
They had tried to bury me. They had tried to humiliate me, silence me, and cast me aside like broken furniture in my own home, offering me pocket change to walk away from everything I had bled for.

I set my coffee cup down, walked over to the floor-to-ceiling glass window, and looked out at the horizon. The storm was completely over, the air was clear, and my empire was finally, truly mine.
