Chapter 4 - The Legal Dismantling of a Parasite

The heavy oak doors of the sanctuary closed behind us with a satisfying, airtight click, shutting out the cold wind and the pathetic sound of Ryan calling my name from across the street.

Inside, the mansion was a dream of warmth, light, and safety. Soaring ceilings, polished walnut floors, and floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking a private indoor-outdoor pool complex greeted us. Within seconds of our entry, the smart-home system recognized my biometric profile, automatically adjusting the indoor climate to a cozy warmth, turning on soft pathway lighting, and playing a gentle, soothing instrumental track through the hidden surround-sound speakers.

My mother sank slowly into a plush velvet armchair in the grand foyer, staring around her in stunned silence. Tears welled up in her aged eyes, spilling over her wrinkled cheeks, but this time, they weren't tears of sorrow or exhaustion.

“Sabrina... my God, sweetheart... is this really yours?” she whispered, her hands trembling as she touched the silken fabric of the armchair. “All this time... you owned this?”

I walked over, kneeling beside her chair, and gently took her bruised hands in mine, kissing her knuckles where the terrible purple marks still lingered. “Yes, Mom. It’s ours. And you will never, ever have to lift a finger, cook a meal under duress, or take orders from anyone ever again. You are safe here.”

She pulled me into a fierce, desperate embrace, burying her face in my shoulder as she wept tears of profound relief. “I was so scared, Sabrina... I didn't want to tell you about the bruises because I didn't want to ruin your marriage. I thought... I thought I had to endure it for your sake.”

“You never had to endure anything for my sake, Mom,” I murmured, my own voice thick with emotion. “From now on, anyone who hurts you answers directly to me—and to the full force of the law.”

While my mother and the twins explored the magnificent kitchen stocked with gourmet snacks and modern appliances, I retreated to my private home office on the second floor. It was time to deal with Ryan and Vivian permanently.

I opened my laptop and connected via encrypted video call to my personal legal counsel, Marcus Vance—a shark of an attorney who specialized in high-net-worth asset protection and corporate litigation.

Marcus appeared on the screen almost instantly, looking sharp in his tailored suit despite the late hour. “Sabrina. Good evening. Your assistant indicated you triggered the emergency asset lockdown protocol on the suburban residential account. Everything alright?”

“More than alright, Marcus,” I said, leaning back in my leather executive chair. “It’s time to initiate Phase Two. I want immediate, unannounced legal separation and divorce proceedings filed against Ryan Miller. Furthermore, I want an immediate eviction notice served on Vivian Miller for the suburban property, effective within forty-eight hours.”

Marcus chuckled darkly on the other end of the line. “Consider it done. As per our pre-nuptial agreement and your post-marital asset structuring, Ryan has zero claim to your business holdings, your venture capital portfolios, or this estate. He walks away with whatever clothes he packed in his suitcase, and not a single penny more.”

“What about my mother’s medical documentation and the evidence of physical abuse?” I asked, my tone hardening. “Can we attach that to the injunction?”

“Absolutely,” Marcus nodded briskly, typing notes on his keyboard. “We can attach a civil restraining order preventing Vivian from coming within five hundred yards of your mother or your children, citing documented physical abuse and elder endangerment. If she violates it, she’ll be facing criminal charges by tomorrow morning.”

“Do it,” I commanded. “Let’s dismantle his comfortable little world completely.”

By midnight, the legal documents were drafted, electronically signed, and dispatched to local county process servers. While Ryan and Vivian sat in total darkness across the street in a cold house with no electricity, no internet, and frozen bank accounts, the wheels of true justice were turning at unstoppable speed.
