Chapter 5 - Dawn of a New Empire

Two months later, the private pediatric wing of the newly established Moretti-Hayes Medical Institute sparkled beneath the afternoon sun.
Leo Moretti—now weighing a healthy twelve pounds and cooing happily in his custom bassinet—reached out and grabbed Clara’s finger with a strong, stubborn grip.
Clara laughed softly, adjusting the blanket around the baby's shoulders.
Standing by the window overlooking the Chicago skyline, Dominic Moretti watched them both with a warmth in his dark eyes that the business world had never seen. He had rebuilt the clinic from the ground up, placing Clara at the absolute helm with unlimited resources and absolute authority.
"He’s gaining weight ahead of schedule," Dominic observed, walking over and resting his hand gently on Clara’s shoulder. The touch sent a warm, electric shiver down her spine.
"He’s thriving because he finally feels safe," Clara replied, turning to look up at him. "And so is his father."
Dominic smiled softly, his fingers gently tracing her cheek. "I spent my whole life believing that strength meant building walls, controlling outcomes, and never letting anyone see you bleed. But you walked into my storm, Clara, and you taught me what true strength really looks like."
"I just did my job, Dominic," she whispered.
May you like
"No," Dominic murmured, pulling her gently against his chest as the baby cooed happily between them. "You saved my son. And then, without even realizing it... you saved me."
Outside the window, the golden autumn sun broke through the clouds, casting a brilliant, unbreakable light over the city—and over a future they would build together, hand in hand.
