Chapter 3 - Uncovering the Deep Financial Fraud

As the police officers moved closer to my father, snapping steel handcuffs onto his expensive Italian wool cuffs, the hidden rot of the Montgomery family began to spill into the open. Special Agent Vance stepped forward, holding a thick manila folder filled with financial printouts and medical charts. He glanced at me with deep sympathy before turning his attention to Charles and Brenda.

“Mr. Montgomery,” Agent Vance said loudly, “for the past five years, our bureau has been tracking an underground broker network trafficking in illegal organ match manipulation and falsified donor priority lists. It turns out your daughter Alyssa was never actually at the top of the national transplant registry waiting list. In fact, her medical file was manipulated using a shell corporation registered under your name.”

Brenda stumbled backward, her polished socialite composure completely destroyed. “That’s... that’s a lie! We did everything legally through the hospital board!”

“Through a private clinic subsidiary that you secretly funded to bypass federal oversight,” Agent Vance countered, pulling out a signed banking statement. “Furthermore, Ms. Claire Montgomery was listed on your family trust as the sole primary beneficiary of a multi-million-dollar maternal inheritance left by her late mother—an inheritance that you, Charles, systematically drained to fund Alyssa’s extravagant lifestyle and your failing real estate ventures.”

I lay back against my pillows, staring at my father in absolute disbelief. The mother I barely remembered had left me a future, and my own father had stolen it piece by piece, treating me not like a daughter, but like a walking savings account and a spare organ bank.

“You traded my life for your bank account,” I whispered, my voice shaking with a cold, rising fury that pushed past the surgical pain.

Charles glared at me, his eyes burning with pure malice even while cuffed. “You ungrateful little brat! After everything I gave you—a roof over your head, food on your plate—you sit there and let these federal thugs ruin our lives over a spare kidney? You were born a burden, and you'll die a nobody!”

“That’s enough,” the police officer barked, shoving Charles toward the doorway. Brenda and Alyssa scrambled after them, weeping hysterically as the hospital staff watched with undisguised contempt. The heavy recovery room door closed behind them, sealing away a lifetime of emotional abuse in a single moment.
