Chapter 4 - Douglas Bellamy’s Verdict

Ardan stood beside Douglas Bellamy at the center of the stage, the massive thirty-foot screen casting a pale, cold glow against their backs, still displaying the quiet, incriminating bedroom of her cheating husband.

Travis stumbled forward, his hands trembling as he reached out toward his father. "Dad, listen to me, I made a mistake, a momentary lapse in judgment, but Bellamy House—the succession, the board—we can't let a personal domestic dispute derail fifty years of corporate stability—"

"Corporate stability?" Douglas interrupted, his voice cutting through the air like a razor blade. He turned his head slowly to look at his son, his eyes burning with absolute contempt. "You talk about corporate stability while you treat the foundation of this family like a cheap motel? You think Bellamy House is built on stock portfolios and marble lobbies, Travis? It is built on trust, execution, and discipline—three things you have proven tonight you are entirely bankrupt of."

"Dad, you can't be serious!" Travis cried out, his voice cracking with rising hysteria as he realized his entire life's ambitions were evaporating in real time. "You’re going to throw away thirty years of succession planning over a text message?!"

"I am not throwing away anything," Douglas replied coldly. "I am simply pruning a diseased branch before it rots the entire root system."

Douglas turned away from his pathetic son, stepping directly toward the edge of the stage where the executive board members, senior legal counsels, and primary institutional investors sat in stunned fascination.

"Ladies and gentlemen," Douglas announced, his voice carrying the full, unyielding weight of a man who had survived four decades of corporate warfare. "As the founder and majority shareholder of Bellamy House, let me make our corporate and familial position abundantly clear. Effective immediately, Travis Bellamy is stripped of all executive titles, removed from the board of directors, and locked out of all corporate accounts pending formal restructuring."

A collective gasp echoed through the ballroom. Several journalists in the back rows began furiously tapping notes into their phones, realizing they were witnessing the most explosive corporate and dynastic execution in Denver history.

Travis staggered backward, his knees buckling slightly as he hit the edge of a mahogany table, knocking over a water pitcher. "No... no, you can't do this... you're ruining my life!"

"You ruined your own life the moment you mistook loyalty for weakness," Douglas stated flatly, not even bothering to look back at him.

Then, Douglas turned back toward Ardan. The harshness in his weathered face melted away completely, replaced by a deep, unwavering admiration. He reached out, gently placing his hand over Ardan’s fingers where they rested on the podium edge.

"For the past five years," Douglas spoke into the microphone, his voice ringing with absolute clarity across the hall, "this company has survived, expanded, and thrived not because of my son's mediocre leadership, but because of the brilliant, tireless, ironclad dedication of Mrs. Ardan Bellamy."

Ardan blinked, a genuine spark of surprise catching her off guard.

"Tonight," Douglas continued, turning to face the stunned crowd head-on, "my idiot son attempted to humiliate the very woman who holds this empire together. Instead, she showed the strength, intelligence, and spine of a true Bellamy. Therefore, as my first order of business tonight, I am officially appointing Ardan Bellamy as the new Executive Managing Director of Bellamy House real estate operations, effective immediately with full voting shares."

The ballroom erupted.

It wasn't polite applause anymore; it was an explosive, roaring wave of shock, awe, and enthusiastic validation. Donors stood up from their tables, clapping loudly. Board members nodded in swift, calculated agreement, realizing that hitching their wagon to Ardan was the smartest move left on the board.

Travis stood alone in the corner of the stage, forgotten, broken, and utterly invisible.

Douglas leaned down slightly toward Ardan, his voice dropping into a warm, conspiratorial whisper meant only for her ears. "Now, my dear... let’s get this trash out of our building, and then you and I are going to rewrite the corporate charter together."
