Chapter 2 - The Corporate Execution at Dawn

The executive boardroom of Summit Crest Group on the thirty-fifth floor overlooked a foggy Atlanta skyline. By 8:30 AM, my desk was clear, my coffee was hot, and my senior legal counsel, Marcus Vance, sat opposite me with a thick leather-bound folio containing the original, un-redacted asset registry.

“Are you certain about this, Valerie?” Marcus asked, adjusting his glasses. “Executing a total corporate recall on Christian Hayes will trigger an immediate liquidity crisis for him. His personal credit is tied directly to the executive guarantees we issued under your discretion.”

“He wanted a high-society upgrade, Marcus,” I replied quietly, staring out the floor-to-ceiling glass window. “Let’s see how long his high-society friends stick around when his credit cards start declining at breakfast.”

At that exact moment across town in Buckhead, Christian was likely pouring his morning coffee in the kitchen of my house, planning his glorious corporate takeover. Little did he know that his entire world was about to dissolve into administrative dust.

“Execute phase one,” I instructed.

Spencer immediately routed a priority override command to the corporate treasury. Within seconds, Christian’s primary business accounts, his personal checking accounts tied to Summit Crest dividends, and his secondary lines of credit were frozen under a federal security audit flag. Simultaneously, our corporate logistics team dispatched a flatbed tow truck to repossess the matte-black luxury SUV parked in our driveway—a vehicle registered directly under Summit Crest corporate assets.

At 9:15 AM, my office phone rang. It was Christian.

I pressed speakerphone so Marcus could listen. Christian’s voice didn't sound smug anymore; it sounded shrill, panicked, and frantic.

“Valerie! What the hell is going on?!” Christian screamed over the line, background noise indicating he was standing outside in his driveway. “My corporate card just got declined at the country club! And some lunatic tow truck driver is hitching my SUV to a flatbed right now! Did you call the bank? Have you lost your mind?!”

I took a slow sip of my coffee. “Good morning, Christian. I trust you slept well in my house.”

There was a sharp silence on the other end. “What are you talking about? It’s our house!”

“Check your email,” I said smoothly. “Your personal email, your corporate email, and the legal notice being taped to the front door by three armed federal marshals right now.”

On the speakerphone, we heard the heavy thud of footsteps on the porch, followed by Beatrice shrieking in the background. “Christian! Some men in suits are putting red eviction notices all over the front windows! They’re saying we have two hours to pack our bags!”

Christian’s breathing turned ragged. “Valerie... what did you do? Who are you people? What is this notice about Summit Crest Group?”

“You called me an ordinary office drone who lived off your success,” I said, my voice cutting like broken glass. “Allow me to reintroduce myself. I am the sole owner and president of Summit Crest Group. That mansion belongs to me. That car belongs to me. Your career exists because I signed your employment waiver seven years ago. You didn't evict your wife, Christian. You just locked yourself out of your meal ticket.”

The line went dead with a terrified, breathless gasp.
