Chapter 4 - The Iron Crown and the Gathering War

Back at Iron Hold Castle, the throne room was a scene of absolute, chaotic devastation.
The massive oak doors had been ripped off their hinges. Heavy iron chandeliers lay shattered across the polished marble floor. Servants and lesser nobles cowered against the pillars, too terrified to even breathe as Alpha King Gideon paced back and forth across the dais like a caged, rabid beast.
His eyes were no longer their usual stormy blue; they burned with an unnatural, terrifying amber glow—the mark of a primal alpha driven to the absolute brink of madness by the rejection of a true mate.
"Find her!" Gideon roared, his voice shaking the massive stone foundations of the castle. "I want every tracking pack from here to the southern coast deployed! Search every cave, every village, every merchant caravan! If she has crossed into Winterborn territory, burn their fields to ash until they hand her over!"
Lord Arthur of Winterborn—summoned urgently to the castle just hours after the escape—stood near the broken throne, trembling with a mixture of fear and furious outrage.
"You fool!" Arthur shouted, stepping forward despite the lethal warning growl vibrating in Gideon’s throat. "You arrogant, self-absorbed fool! You had the most powerful bloodline in the north bound to your bed by sacred rites, and you threw her away for a petty mistress! You didn't just insult my daughter—you declared war on the entire Winterborn clan!"
Gideon spun around, crossing the distance between them in a single, terrifying bound. He grabbed Arthur by the throat, lifting the older lord two feet off the floor with one hand, his claws digging dangerously close to the man's jugular.
"Watch your tongue, old man," Gideon hissed, spittle flying from his lips. "Your daughter is still legally my wife. That blood-sealed divorce carries no weight without my signature! She is my queen, and I will drag her back to this castle if I have to slaughter every last warrior in your province to do it!"
Before Arthur could choke out a reply, a massive explosion rocked the outer courtyard of the castle.
BOOM!
The heavy stone walls shuddered violently. A second later, a terrified scout came barreling through the shattered throne room doors, covered in soot and blood, throwing himself flat onto the marble floor.
"My King! My King!" the scout screamed, clutching his wounded arm. "We're under attack! An army... an army bearing the banner of the silver wolf is scaling the outer walls! They're not rogues... they're Winterborn elites, led by... by Queen Genevieve herself!"
Gideon froze. The grip on Arthur’s throat loosened instantly, the older lord dropping heavily to the floor coughing for air.

"What did you say?" Gideon whispered, a cold dread washing over his raging spirit.
"She's back, My King," the scout gasped, his eyes wide with sheer horror. "And she didn't come alone. She brought the Iron Ghost."
