Chapter 4 - Confrontation in the Shadows

The subterranean parking garage of Veyron Tower was vast, dim, and echoing at midnight. Raw concrete pillars stretched up into the shadows, smelling of damp earth and exhaust fumes. In the center of the bay, two security operatives stood guard beside a black armored SUV.
Ronin Veyron stood near the pillar, looking annoyed and disheveled in an expensive silk shirt that was unbuttoned at the collar. He had been yanked out of a high-stakes poker game in the East End and brought here against his will.
"Cassian! What the hell is this?" Ronin barked, forcing a cocky grin as footsteps echoed across the concrete. "You pull me away from a table for a corporate chat in the middle of the night?"
Cassian emerged from the darkness, his long wool coat sweeping around his ankles, his expression completely devoid of human warmth. He didn’t say a word as he walked up to his cousin.
Ronin’s smile faltered under that terrifying, dead-eyed gaze. "What? Did I miss a milestone report?"
"You have a portfolio of private debt holdings," Cassian began, his voice dangerously soft, cutting through the cavernous silence. "Small-time operations. People who can't pay back loans."
"Business is business, Cassian. You handle the skyscrapers; let me handle the street level—"
"You have a debtor named Dennis Quinn," Cassian interrupted, stepping closer until he towered over Ronin.
Ronin blinked, a flicker of genuine panic crossing his eyes. "Oh. That. Look, the old man ran up fifty grand, couldn't pay—"
"And his daughter works for me," Cassian said.
"She’s a smart girl, works hard, what does it—"
Before Ronin could finish the sentence, Cassian’s hand shot out, grabbing his cousin by the silk collar and slamming him violently against the concrete pillar. The impact echoed off the walls with a sickening thud. Ronin gasped for air, his hands clawing uselessly at Cassian’s iron grip.
"You touched her," Cassian whispered, his voice vibrating with suppressed, lethal fury. "You sent your men to lay hands on an employee inside my organization. You bled her family dry to pad your own pathetic accounts."
"I didn't know she worked for you!" Ronin choked out, his face turning purple. "I swear to God, I didn't connect the name—"
"Consider the connection made," Cassian said, his eyes burning with absolute ice. "Every contract, every ledger, every scrap of debt Dennis Quinn owes is wiped clean, effective immediately. If I ever hear your name, see your shadow, or catch a whiff of your illegal operations anywhere near Aera Quinn or her family again, I won't just strip your portfolio. I will dismantle you piece by piece until there is nothing left of you to bury."

Cassian shoved Ronin away with such force that the younger man stumbled and hit the floor, scrambling backward in terror.
"Get out of my building," Cassian commanded, turning his back on him. "And don't ever look back."
