Chapter 3 - The Security Footage That Ended a Career

The atmosphere in the Starlight Arena shifted from shock to collective outrage. The murmurs swelled into an angry hum, directed entirely at the trembling, blonde figure standing near center ice.

"That is not the tragedy of this story," Victor’s voice cut through the murmur, sharp as a razor. "The tragedy is that the driver of that vehicle was heavily intoxicated. The driver panicked. The driver sped away, leaving both me and the woman who saved my life bleeding on the asphalt."

Chloe shook her head frantically, tears welling in her eyes as she backed away from him. "Grandpa... please... you promised you wouldn't... you said the family name..."

"I promised I would keep quiet until the Olympics were over, to spare the family name from public disgrace," Victor snarled, his voice echoing off the glass partitions. "But watching you stand here on national television, weaponizing your own cowardice to humiliate the woman who bled for my life? The deal is officially off."

Victor raised his left hand toward the production control booth in the upper tier. "Play the real footage."

Instantly, the massive Jumbotron flickered. The fake, forged doping document vanished, replaced by stark, high-definition, black-and-white security camera footage from a rainy, desolate intersection downtown.

Eighteen thousand people watched in horror as the timestamp appeared in the corner of the screen: six months ago, 2:14 AM. A sleek, silver sports car blew through a glaring red light at eighty miles per hour. The camera tracked my blurry figure sprinting across the wet asphalt, shoving an elderly man out of the path of the speeding machine right before the vehicle clipped me, launching my body across the concrete like a broken doll.

The entire stadium held its breath as the security camera zoomed in on the sports car as it skidded to a halt fifty yards down the road.

The driver's side door swung open. A frantic, blonde woman leaned out, her face illuminated by the dashboard lights. She stared directly at my bleeding, motionless body crumpled in the middle of the street.

Then, without a shred of hesitation, she slammed the door shut, revved the engine, and sped off into the rainy night, leaving me to die.

The license plate was crystal clear. The driver's face—distorted by panic, yet unmistakably recognizable—was Chloe Sterling.

A deafening roar of fury erupted from the stands. Boos, catcalls, and shouts of condemnation rained down from the upper tiers. Flashbulbs exploded in a blinding, chaotic frenzy, capturing the exact second Chloe Sterling's carefully curated world of privilege and lies completely collapsed.
