Chapter 5 - The Gold Medal Legacy

Three months later, the scandal involving Chloe Sterling and the attempted corporate sabotage orchestrated by her legal associates had worked its way through the federal courts. Chloe was currently serving a multi-year sentence in a maximum-security state facility, stripped of her inheritance, her titles, and her social standing. Her grandfather, true to his word, had completely disinherited her, redirecting the entirety of the Sterling family philanthropic fund toward athletic rehabilitation centers and trauma recovery wards—naming the flagship facility after me.

I stood at the edge of a sunlit balcony overlooking the private practice rink at the national training center. The morning light poured through the glass, casting a warm glow over the polished ice below.

My right thigh still bore the long, silver-white streak of the scar, but it no longer felt like a reminder of pain. It was a monument to survival.

My phone buzzed against the wooden railing. It was a text message from Victor Sterling:

“Checking in on my favorite champion. Dinner at my estate tonight? The chef is preparing that ribeye you like, and we need to review the architectural blueprints for the new Harper Vance Rehabilitation Wing.”

I smiled, typing back a quick, warm response: “I’ll be there, Victor. Save me a seat by the window.”

Behind me, the door to the office opened softly, and Liam walked in, holding two steaming cups of coffee. He wrapped his arms around my waist from behind, resting his chin on my shoulder as we watched the junior skaters glide effortlessly across the ice below.

"Thinking about the gala?" he asked softly, kissing the side of my neck.

"Not at all," I replied, turning in his arms to face him, pulling the jacket tight around my shoulders just like I had that night on the ice. "I'm thinking about the future."

My gold medal hung securely in its velvet case on the study wall, a permanent testament to what it truly means to fight for your life, your honor, and your dreams. The lies had burned to ash, leaving behind only the undeniable truth of a champion who refused to break.
