Chapter 3 - The Global Freeze

Room 1402 was dark, cool, and smelled faintly of fresh linen and polished wood. I bypassed the living area, heading straight for the sleek executive desk positioned in front of the floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the bustling skyline of Bangkok.
I plugged the titanium key fob into the integrated USB-C port of the high-end desktop workstation resting on the desk.
Instantly, the screen flickered to life. A stark, black command-line interface filled the monitor, scrolling lines of encrypted green text at lightning speed.
UPLINK ESTABLISHED: SECURE SATELLITE RELAY (ZURICH-01).
AUTHENTICATION: CHLOE STERLING (LEVEL 9 CLEARANCE).
STATUS: ACTIVE CRISIS PROTOCOL.
A dialogue box popped up on the center of the screen, flashing a high-priority incoming message from my former supervisor and mentor at Titan Global, Marcus Vance—no relation to my estranged husband, thankfully, but a man who viewed me like a younger sister and possessed the corporate ruthlessness of a shark.
“Chloe? What the hell happened? We’ve been picking up automated telemetry pings from your emergency fob for the last five minutes. Are you safe?”
I quickly typed my response onto the physical keyboard, my fingers moving with furious speed.
“Safe for now, Marcus. My husband Arthur and his mother abandoned me in Bangkok, stole my passport, canceled my return flight, and left me stranded with zero funds. They wanted me broken. Instead, I want their entire empire dismantled.”
A pause on the other end of the line lasted barely three seconds before a reply flashed across the monitor.
“Consider it done. What are your parameters?”
“Initiate Phase One of the Sentinel Protocol immediately,” I typed back, my eyes narrowing with steely resolve. “Freeze every single asset, trust, and holding account tied to Arthur Vance, Vance Enterprises, and Evelyn Vance. Execute emergency injunctions across all domestic and international bank accounts. Notify our corporate legal partners in Seattle to file an immediate restraining order and a multi-million-dollar civil suit for corporate sabotage, wrongful abandonment, and asset concealment.”
“And Arthur?” Marcus’s message asked.
“Let him fly home. Let him sit in his empty boardroom thinking he’s won. When he lands at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport in twelve hours, I want every single corporate credit card declined, every bank account frozen, and federal marshals waiting at the arrival gate.”

“It will be a pleasure,” Marcus replied instantly. “Running diagnostics now. Execution in three... two... one...”
On the screen, a massive cascade of data began flowing across the monitor. Across the Pacific Ocean, in the glittering financial district of Seattle, servers at Vance Enterprises were suddenly hit with an automated wave of emergency legal injunctions, asset freezes, and forensic audits that would lock down every penny Arthur thought he owned before his first-class flight even crossed international airspace.
