Chapter 5 - A Royal Beginning and Happily Ever After

Three months later, the private maternity ward of St. Jude’s Hospital was filled with the soft, sweet scent of white lilies and baby powder.

Outside in the private VIP lounge, Dominic Moretti paced back and forth across the plush Persian rug, his hands shoved deep into the pockets of his tailored trousers, looking more nervous than he had during his entire criminal career. Marco, his loyal second-in-command, sat in a leather armchair nearby, trying hard to suppress a grin.

"Boss, you're going to wear a hole right through the carpet," Marco chuckled. "She’s fine. The baby’s fine. Take a breath."

Before Dominic could snap back, the oak door clicked open, and Dr. Evelyn Vance—an elite obstetrician who was also a trusted ally of the Moretti family—stepped out into the hallway, wiping her hands with a bright, triumphant smile.

"Mr. Moretti," Dr. Vance announced warmly. "Congratulations. You have a healthy, beautiful baby girl. And mother is resting comfortably."

Dominic let out a breath he felt like he had been holding for months. He didn't wait for permission; he pushed past the doctor and strode quickly into the private recovery suite.

The room was bathed in the soft, golden light of the afternoon sun streaming through tall bay windows overlooking the ocean. In the center of the room sat a massive white bassinet, and propped up against a mountain of silk pillows in the bed was Khloe. She looked radiant, her skin glowing, a peaceful, euphoric smile resting on her lips as she cradled a tiny, bundle of blankets against her chest.

Hearing footsteps, Khloe looked up. Her eyes met Dominic’s, and the raw, overwhelming love shining in her gaze made his chest tighten.

Dominic walked slowly to the side of the bed, his movements uncharacteristically hesitant, as if he were afraid the moment might vanish if he touched her too hard. He looked down at the tiny baby girl sleeping peacefully in Khloe’s arms—she had a tuft of soft brown hair and tiny, perfect fingers curled into fists.

"May I?" Dominic whispered, his voice cracking slightly.

Khloe nodded, carefully shifting the baby so Dominic could support her weight. Dominic extended his large, scarred hands, sliding them gently beneath the infant’s back and head. He lifted her slowly, holding her close to his chest with a tenderness that defied every terrifying reputation he possessed in the underworld.

"She has your eyes," Khloe whispered softly, tears of pure joy glistening in her own.

"No," Dominic shook his head, looking down at the baby with complete, unconditional devotion before lifting his gaze to meet Khloe’s. "She has your strength, Khloe. She’s a fighter, just like her mother."

Six months later, the cliffside gardens of the Moretti estate played host to the most exclusive, heavily guarded wedding the city had ever witnessed. There were no cameras, no gossiping socialites, and no toxic anchors dragging anyone down.

Instead, the lawn was lined with hundreds of white roses, soft classical string music drifted across the ocean breeze, and close friends and loyal allies gathered to celebrate a miraculous new dawn.

Khloe walked down the stone aisle wearing a breathtaking, flowing white silk gown that hugged her figure perfectly, her skin glowing under the afternoon sun. Waiting for her at the altar was Dominic, dressed in a sharp black tuxedo, holding a tiny, giggling baby girl in his arms who wore a matching white lace dress.

As Khloe reached his side, Dominic leaned down, pressing a tender, lingering kiss to her lips before whispering into her ear, "Welcome home, Mrs. Moretti."

Far across the city, inside a cold, gray prison cell, Derek Vance stared blankly at the concrete wall, completely forgotten by the world he had once tried to conquer. But here, overlooking the endless ocean with a man who would gladly go to war for her and a daughter who would never know what it meant to be abandoned, Khloe smiled—knowing that her worst nightmare had simply been the dark doorway to her greatest blessing.
