Chapter 46 - The Community Celebration

The total and unconditional collapse of Apex Zenith Holdings triggered an immediate wave of celebration across Larksburg Court. That evening, the neighborhood converted the entire cul-de-sac into an impromptu street festival. String lights were strung between oak trees, barbecue grills smoked with savory aromas, and children played tag across the pristine lawns.

Walt Griffin stood proudly on the front steps of the Larksburg Veterans Support and Wellness Center, holding a vintage microphone and addressing the hundreds of gathered residents, families, and visiting veterans.

"For years, corporate suits thought they could buy and sell our homes like stocks on a trading floor!" Walt boomed into the microphone, his raspy voice ringing with fierce pride. "They thought lawyers and shell companies could intimidate a community built on honor and sacrifice. But they forgot one fundamental truth: when you mess with a neighborhood defended by an Army Ranger and an old Marine, you're going to get dismantled piece by piece!"

The crowd erupted into thunderous, roaring applause. Dozens of heads turned toward the back where I stood quietly beside Denise and Ethan Caldwell.

Ethan, now fully established as the assistant director of the wellness center, walked over with a wide, genuine grin, handing me a paper cup of iced lemonade. "You know, Sergeant, at this rate, downtown corporate liquidators are going to start listing Larksburg Court as a mandatory 'Do Not Enter' zone in their training manuals."

I took the cup, smiling faintly. "It’s not about keeping people out, Ethan. It’s about making sure everyone inside understands the value of what we protect."

Richard Caldwell walked over, shaking my hand firmly. "Thorne has officially resigned and is cooperating with federal prosecutors on broader financial fraud charges. The Caldwell family name is finally, truly cleansed of that toxicity. I cannot thank you enough, Victoria."

"Save your thanks, Richard," I replied, looking out over the joyful, secure neighborhood. "Just keep building a future that honors the people who live here."

As the evening matured into a starlit night, filled with laughter, music, and the peaceful hum of a community at absolute rest, I knew the battles were finally behind us. The perimeter was secure. The threat was neutralized. And Larksburg Court was safe.
