Chapter 59 - The Final ReflectionAs summer arrived, painting the city in vibrant shades of emerald and gold, I found myself standing once again on the spacious balcony of my downtown penthouse, holding a morning coffee.

Five years had passed since the night my father handed me an upscale restaurant bill for $5,900 while declaring my brother "worth it." Five years since I packed my nylon travel bags, walked out into the pre-dawn darkness, and left a note on the refrigerator that shattered a lifetime of invisible servitude.
Julian walked out onto the balcony, wrapping his arms around my shoulders from behind. "What are you thinking about, Commissioner?" he murmured softly.
"I was just thinking about how strange life is," I smiled. "How the cruellest moments of our lives—the moments designed to break us—can actually be the catalyst that sets us completely free."
