Chapter 34 - The Spring Blossom of Healing
As the calendar turned toward April, the harsh winter snows of the Rocky Mountains slowly melted away, giving way to the vibrant, life-affirming energy of the spring thaw. Gushing streams of crystal-clear water rushed down the mountain slopes, and delicate alpine wildflowers began to push their way through the damp, rich soil.
True to their tradition from the previous year, Daniel drove up for a weekend visit, bringing several trays of fresh lavender seedlings and gardening tools. Together, the three of us—and this time joined by a visiting Chloe Vance, who had been invited for a peaceful weekend away from the stress of her university studies—spent Saturday morning planting lavender along the cobblestone pathway leading up to the cabin’s front entrance.
Chloe pressed a delicate green stem into the rich earth, gently tamping down the soil around its roots. “Thank you for inviting me up here, Mrs. Sinclair,” Chloe said softly, her voice filled with sincere humility. “After everything my family did to yours, I didn't expect such kindness.”
