By Thursday morning, the federal courthouse in downtown Denver was packed to capacity. Journalists, financial analysts, and corporate observers crowded the wooden benches of Courtroom 3B, all eager to witness the dramatic final chapter of the Sinclair corporate corruption trials.
Evelyn Cross sat at the defense table, flanked by two high-priced defense attorneys imported from New York. She stared straight ahead, her face pale, desperately trying to maintain an air of professional detachment. But the sheer volume of forensic evidence stacked against her was insurmountable.
When the Honorable Judge Harrison entered the courtroom, the room fell into instant, respectful silence. Before the judge could respond, Marcus Vance stood up, stepping smoothly toward the podium. Marcus pressed a button on his remote tablet. The crisp, unmistakable voice of Evelyn Cross echoed across the courtroom speakers: "Ensure the transfer routes through Meridian Holdings are completely obscured. Once old Eleanor’s estate is tied up in probate litigation, the board will automatically approve the asset liquidation. Nobody will ever trace the loophole back to my advisory firm."
The audio recording played out to its damning conclusion, silencing the defense table instantly. Judge Harrison looked down from the bench, his expression stern and unyielding. "Motion to dismiss denied. Given the severe flight risk, international assets, and the calculated nature of the multi-million-dollar conspiracy, the defendant is remanded to federal custody without bail."
