Chapter 21 - The Siege of Rossi’s CompoundThe industrial warehouse on Chicago’s North Side looked abandoned from the outside—a crumbling brick structure surrounded by barbed-wire fences and overgrown weeds. But beneath the surface concrete floors lay Salvatore Rossi’s primary operational command center: a high-security subterranean vault housing millions in untraceable cash, encrypted servers, and the financial lifelines of his corrupt political network.

It was 3:00 AM when the night was suddenly shattered by absolute, overwhelming violence.
Without warning, synchronized explosive charges blew the heavy steel reinforced doors off their hinges, filling the subterranean corridors with a dense cloud of smoke and blinding flash-bang grenades.
“Breach! Breach! Move, move, move!” Dante Moretti roared, leading a wedge of heavily armed, black-clad tactical enforcers through the smoking entrance.
Rossi’s guards, caught completely by surprise while drinking and playing cards in the briefing room, didn't even have time to unholster their weapons before Dante’s men subdued them with swift, brutal precision. Rubber-jacketed steel rounds cracked through the air, breaking bones and dropping armed sentries like falling timber. Within three minutes, the entire upper security tier was completely neutralized without a single fatal casualty on either side.
Down in the subterranean vault, Salvatore Rossi leaped out of his leather executive chair, his face flushed with panicked rage as the emergency klaxons wailed overhead. He grabbed a customized gold-plated Beretta from his desk, screaming at his remaining lieutenants to lock the vault doors.
“What the hell is happening?!” Rossi bellowed, slamming his hand against the intercom. “Where is the perimeter security?!”
The intercom didn't answer with static. Instead, the heavy vault door was smoothly overridden from the outside by a digital bypass signal. The massive steel slab slowly swung open with a deep, echoing groan.
Standing in the doorway, framed by the harsh fluorescent light of the corridor, was Vincent Moretti.
Dressed in a pristine dark wool overcoat, his hands casually slipped into his pockets, Vincent looked less like a man storming an enemy fortress and more like a gentleman arriving for a business appointment. Behind him stood Marcus and Dante, their assault rifles pointed lazily at the floor.
Rossi raised his gold-plated Beretta with a trembling hand, aiming directly at Vincent’s chest. “You… you’re supposed to be in Atlanta! How the hell did you get in here?!”
Vincent didn't flinch. He didn't even blink. He took three unhurried steps into the vault, stopping ten feet from the frantic Chicago boss.
“You made a critical error, Salvatore,” Vincent said, his voice terrifyingly calm, echoing off the concrete walls. “You thought my empire was vulnerable because I was focused on my family. You thought you could play chess with a man who owns the entire board.”
“I’ll put a bullet through your heart right now!” Rossi screamed, his finger tightening convulsively on the trigger.
Before Rossi could pull the trigger, Marcus moved with blinding, unnatural speed. A suppressed gunshot cracked through the air. A high-calibre round shattered Rossi’s right wrist, sending the gold-plated Beretta flying across the concrete floor in a spray of blood.
Rossi shrieked in agony, clutching his shattered wrist as he collapsed backward against his mahogany desk, sliding down onto his knees.

Vincent walked slowly forward, standing directly over the broken Chicago boss. He looked down with absolute, bottomless disgust.
“Your accounts are frozen, your guards are neutralized, and your political puppets in Washington have already been abandoned,” Vincent whispered coldly. “Marcus, take him down to the Savannah shipping warehouse. Let him share a container with Dr. Harrison Vance. It’s time these old friends caught up on old times.”
