Chapter 26 - The Final ConfessionThe subterranean interrogation suite beneath the North Georgia shipping warehouse was dead silent, save for the rhythmic dripping of a distant water pipe and the low hum of the overhead fluorescent lights.

Bound securely to the heavy steel chair in the center of the concrete room was the captured Interpol operative, Viktor Sterling. His tactical coat was gone, his hands cuffed tightly behind the chair legs, and a small bruise darkened his left cheekbone from the brief, overwhelming ambush in the estate hallway.

The heavy iron door swung open with a loud metallic squeak, and Vincent Moretti stepped into the room. He walked with slow, deliberate steps, pulling up a folding metal chair and sitting down directly opposite the captive. He rested his elbows on his knees, staring quietly into the operative's eyes for a long, suffocating minute.

“You’re a high-level asset, Viktor,” Vincent finally spoke, his voice dangerously soft. “You carry diplomatic immunity, secret international clearance codes, and direct communication lines to the highest levels of the European Pharmaceutical Cartel. So why risk your neck to cover up a failed neurotoxin trial in Atlanta?”

Sterling offered a grim, bitter smile, coughing slightly as he looked up. “You think you’ve won, Moretti? You think locking me in this concrete box stops the machine? The cartel isn’t just a group of greedy businessmen. It’s a global network spanning continents, governments, and intelligence agencies. If I don't transmit my clearance signal within twenty-four hours, the syndicate’s automated protocols will activate a secondary directive: total economic and physical annihilation of everything you own.”

Vincent didn't raise his voice. He didn't blink. He simply reached into his coat pocket, pulled out a sleek encrypted satellite tablet, and slid it across the metal table.

Sterling glanced down at the screen. The display showed real-time tracking data—server logs, encryption keys, and direct satellite routing nodes linked straight to the cartel’s primary European mainframe.

“Your automated protocols were intercepted and rerouted thirty minutes ago by my cybersecurity team,” Vincent said evenly, a cold, confident smirk touching his lips. “And as for your diplomatic immunity? The U.S. State Department and federal intelligence agencies have already received the complete encrypted dossier of the cartel’s illegal human trials, offshore shell companies, and illicit drug distribution networks. An international dragnet is currently closing around your masters in Geneva, Zurich, and London.”

Sterling’s arrogant composure finally shattered completely. The color drained entirely from his face, leaving him chalk-white. “How… how did you access the primary mainframe? That code was classified at the highest international level!”

“In my world, information is currency, and power belongs to the man who sees the entire board,” Vincent said, standing up slowly and buttoning his jacket. He looked down at the shivering operative with absolute, bottomless disgust. “You and your masters thought you could play god with children’s lives. Now, you’ll spend the rest of your natural lives contemplating the cost of your arrogance in a federal supermax prison.”

Vincent turned his back on the prisoner, walking toward the heavy iron door without looking back. The shadow had been completely eradicated.
