Chapter 22 - The Digital Siege

True to his word, within twenty-four hours Ambrose Calvano’s intelligence network had pinpointed the exact digital origin of the smear campaign. The bot farm flooding the internet with fabricated plagiarism claims against Ashby & Co. was operating out of a disguised warehouse on the industrial outskirts of Marrow Hill—directly managed by Viktor Radek’s local proxy agents.

On a moonless Thursday night, a convoy of four unmarked black SUVs pulled silently up to the perimeter fence of the industrial warehouse. Inside the vehicles sat Ambrose Calvano and his elite security detail, fully prepared to shut down Radek’s operation permanently.

Karen Ashby sat in the front passenger seat of the lead vehicle, wearing a dark trench coat, her expression cold and resolute. She wasn't going to sit back and wait for someone else to finish her fight.

"You sure you want to be here for this, Karen?" Ambrose asked, glancing over at her as he checked the clip of his sidearm.

"This is my name, my shop, and my reputation," Karen replied calmly, opening her car door. "I want to be in the room when Radek’s people realize they picked the wrong seamstress to mess with."

They moved with absolute, military precision. Syndicate enforcers cut through the perimeter fence, bypassed the electronic security locks within seconds, and breached the heavy metal side doors of the warehouse before the guards inside even had time to react.

Inside, three computer technicians sat staring in horror as half a dozen burly men in tailored suits flooded the room, instantly disabling the server banks and confiscating the hard drives containing the coordinated smear campaign scripts.

Standing near the back of the room, Radek’s chief local proxy—a sweating, nervous man in an expensive suit—tried frantically to reach for a burner phone on his desk.

Before his fingers could touch the plastic, Ambrose stepped forward, placing a heavy hand flat on the desk and pressing down with crushing authority.

"I wouldn't touch that if I were you," Ambrose said smoothly, his gray eyes locked onto the proxy’s terrified face. "Unless you want your next phone call to be from a hospital bed."

Karen walked slowly across the concrete floor, stopping directly in front of the desk. She looked down at the trembling man, then at the massive rack of servers blinking their last dying lights.

"Tell Viktor Radek," Karen said, her voice cutting through the silent warehouse like a razor, "that if he has something to say about my work, he can come to Marrow Hill and say it to my face. But if he ever tries to hide behind anonymous bot farms again, I won't just ruin his finances. I'll dismantle what’s left of his entire operation."

The proxy swallowed hard, nodding frantically. "I... I'll tell him. I swear I'll tell him."

Within the hour, every hard drive containing the fabricated smear campaign was erased, the servers were dismantled, and Radek’s local proxy operation was completely liquidated. The digital siege had failed.
