On a quiet Sunday afternoon, Ethan and I worked side by side in the yard, planting new perennial flower beds along the walkway. Ethan handled the soil bulbs with practiced expertise from his specialized rolling chair, while I pruned the rosebushes.
"Mom, do you remember when we first planted these flowers three years ago?" Ethan asked, pausing to wipe a smudge of dirt from his forehead, grinning playfully.
"I remember every single root, buddy," I laughed, walking over and handing him a bottle of water. "And look at them now. They’re stronger, deeper, and more vibrant than ever."
Ethan smiled, taking a sip of water and looking out across our immaculate, peaceful home. "Just like us."
