Chapter 31 - The London Proposition

The words hung in the air of the bright suburban kitchen like a suspended melody. Sandy stared at the cream-colored invitation embossed with gold lettering, her mind racing through the logistics of her thriving marketing agency in Manhattan.
"London?" Sandy repeated, her voice a mixture of astonishment and playful skepticism. "Julian Vance, you're dropping a transatlantic relocation bomb on a Sunday morning over cinnamon rolls and black coffee?"
Julian chuckled, reaching across the counter to take her hand in his. "It's not a bomb, my love. It's an invitation. When the foundation board approached me with the directorship last week, my first instinct was to decline. My life, my gallery, and most importantly, my wife are right here in New York."
"And what changed your mind?" Sandy asked, her eyes searching his striking blue gaze, finding only absolute sincerity and devotion.
"I talked to the board president and negotiated new terms," Julian smiled, his eyes gleaming with excitement. "The Vance Art Gallery in Manhattan will remain fully operational under my head curator, and your agency—Apex Media—has been named the exclusive international marketing and PR partner for the European expansion. Which means we wouldn't be moving away from our careers, Sandy. We'd be scaling them globally. Together."
David leaned back in his chair, a slow, proud grin spreading across his face as he watched the two of them. "Well, what are you waiting for, sweetheart? When an opportunity like that knocks on your door, you don't just open it—you rip it off its hinges."

Sandy looked between her father and her husband, feeling a thrilling wave of adrenaline wash over her. A year ago, her entire world had been confined to the narrow, suffocating expectations of a suburban wedding and a corporate marriage built on quicksand. Now, the entire world was open to her. She wasn't running away from a scandal; she was stepping onto a global stage as an equal partner, a brilliant strategist, and an independent woman.
"Let's do it," Sandy said, a radiant smile breaking across her face. "Let's conquer London."
