Chapter 37 - Winning Over the Patriarch

Lord Alistair Vance was a tall, distinguished man in his late sixties with silver hair, sharp intelligent eyes, and a reputation for being notoriously difficult to impress. When Julian had first introduced Sandy via video call months prior, Alistair had been polite but deeply skeptical of American marketing executives breaking into traditional British curatorial circles.
"Julian, my boy," Lord Alistair greeted warmly, stepping forward and clapping Julian on the shoulder before turning his sharp, analytical gaze toward Sandy. "And this must be the brilliant mastermind behind the Mayfair Pavilion's digital transformation. Ms. Miller-Vance."
Sandy met his gaze with absolute composure, offering a warm, confident smile. "Good evening, Lord Alistair. It's a pleasure to finally welcome you to our exhibition in person."
Alistair looked her up and down, taking in her crimson silk gown, her poised posture, and the calm authority in her eyes. A slow, approving smile broke across his weathered face. "I must confess, Sandy, when Julian told me an American marketer was redesigning our layout paradigms, I feared we were headed for corporate chaos. But walking through these halls tonight... I see a rare clarity. You haven't just marketed our art; you've captured its soul."
"Thank you, Alistair," Sandy replied smoothly. "Art without a soul is just expensive decoration. My goal has always been to connect the viewer's personal truth with the artist's vision."
Alistair chuckled, a rich, resonant sound that echoed through the gallery. "Julian, you didn't just find a brilliant business partner. You married a force of nature. Welcome to the family, my dear. Truly welcome."

As Alistair excused himself to greet a group of international museum directors, Julian looked down at Sandy with undisguised adoration. "You just charmed the most cynical art critic in Western Europe in under sixty seconds."
"I didn't charm him, Julian," Sandy whispered with a playful wink. "I just told him the truth."
