Chapter 64 - An Evening at the Opera

To cap off a monumentally successful quarter, Julian surprised Sandy with tickets to opening night at the Metropolitan Opera House at Lincoln Center. The production was La Traviata, performed in a stunning, minimalist contemporary staging curated by an avant-garde European director.
Dressed in a breathtaking crimson silk-crepe evening gown that swept the floor with quiet majesty, paired with her signature platinum lotus ring, Sandy walked arm-in-arm with Julian through the glittering grand lobby of the opera house. The air buzzed with sophistication, champagne glasses clinking softly against the backdrop of glittering chandeliers.
During the intermission, as they stood on the grand balcony overlooking the illuminated Lincoln Center plaza, Julian turned to look at her, his blue eyes reflecting the warm amber lights of the foyer.
"You know," Julian murmured softly, brushing a stray lock of blonde hair behind her ear, "every time I look at you in a gown like this, surrounded by all this culture and elegance, I still remember the first day you walked into my gallery and put me in my place over an abstract art layout."
Sandy laughed, a rich, musical sound. "You deserved it, Julian. Your lighting layout was atrocious."
May you like
"It was," he admitted with an unrepentant grin. "And it was the best thing that ever happened to me. You walked into my life like a thunderstorm, Sandy, and you cleared away all the superficial clutter I didn't even know I was carrying."
"We found each other in the clearing after the storm," Sandy whispered, stepping closer and resting her hands against the lapels of his tailored tuxedo. "And I wouldn't trade a single second of our journey for anything in the world."
