Chapter 42 - A New Addition

Back in London as summer transitioned into early autumn, Sandy and Julian’s lives reached an even deeper level of fulfillment. Their Mayfair townhouse had become a welcoming sanctuary for international artists, visiting family members, and close friends.
One sunny Saturday afternoon, as Sandy was reviewing design proofs in her home conservatory, Julian walked in carrying a small, squirming, furry bundle wrapped in a blue blanket.
Sandy looked up, blinking in surprise as a tiny, wet black nose poked out from the blanket, followed by two massive, soulful golden-brown eyes and oversized floppy puppy ears.
"What on earth is that?" Sandy asked, a delighted smile instantly breaking across her face.
"Meet Winston," Julian grinned, carefully depositing the wiggly ball of fur right into Sandy’s lap. "He’s a golden retriever puppy, direct descendant of a champion bloodline, and apparently destined to be Buster’s British cousin."
Winston let out an enthusiastic, squeaky bark, immediately starting to lick Sandy’s chin with frantic puppy affection.
"Julian Vance, did you drive all the way to the Cotswarks to buy a puppy without consulting me?" Sandy laughed, trying to fend off the puppy kisses while scratching the soft fur behind his ears.

"Consult you?" Julian feigned innocence, leaning against the back of the sofa. "I knew the moment you saw those ears, my defense case would be completely dismissed. Besides, a Mayfair townhouse simply isn't complete without a proper British dog."
Winston quickly became the undisputed ruler of the household, keeping them thoroughly entertained with his clumsy antics, chewing on designer shoes, and sleeping soundly across their feet during late-night strategy sessions. Life in London was vibrant, chaotic, joyful, and completely authentic.
