Chapter 76 - The Corporate AllianceThree weeks later, the front page of the Financial Times featured a massive headline: VANCE ENTERPRISES ANNOUNCES RESTRUCTURING AND MAJOR PHILANTHROPIC INITIATIVE.

Back in New York, the climate inside the glass tower had completely transformed. The oppressive, cutthroat atmosphere engineered by Julian Vance had been replaced by an open, collaborative culture. Julian’s trial was underway in federal court, and with the airtight evidence Clara and Marcus had provided, the prosecution's case was airtight—facing a minimum of twenty years behind bars.

In the executive suite, Ethan sat at his desk, reviewing the final merger documents for a sustainable energy firm based in Scandinavia. The door opened without a knock, and Clara walked in carrying two cups of artisan coffee, wearing a sharp navy pantsuit that commanded absolute respect.

"You're working too late again," Clara teased, placing a cup down beside his laptop. "Marcus is downstairs waiting for us to review the foundation rollout, and you're buried in solar grid patents."

Ethan looked up, a warm, genuine smile spreading across his face—a smile that only Clara ever got to see. He reached out, grabbed her hand, and pulled her down onto his lap, burying his face in the crook of her neck.

"Let Marcus wait," Ethan murmured against her skin, wrapping his arms securely around her waist. "My favorite executive deserves my full attention."

Clara giggled, resting her hands on his shoulders. "We have a board dinner in two hours, Ethan. If we're late, your uncle is going to give us that long, disapproving lecture about punctuality."

"Let him," Ethan whispered, kissing her cheek softly. "Let the world wait. For the first time in my life, I have everything right where it's supposed to be."

Suddenly, the intercom buzzed sharply. Ethan sighed in mock frustration and pressed the speaker button. "Yes, Ms. Gable?"

"Sir, you have a visitor in the private lobby," the assistant’s voice came through, sounding slightly hesitant. "It's... Victoria Vance. Julian's sister. She insists it's urgent regarding the remaining estate assets."

Ethan’s expression instantly hardened, the softness in his eyes vanishing, replaced once more by the formidable corporate titan. Clara stepped off his lap, her professional demeanor snapping back into place.

"Show her in," Ethan instructed coldly.

Victoria Vance walked into the office a minute later. She didn't look like her arrogant brother. She looked defeated, her eyes red-rimmed from crying, clutching a thick leather-bound journal to her chest like a shield.

"Ethan... Clara," Victoria said, her voice shaking slightly as she stopped in front of the desk. "I know my brother brought this destruction upon himself. I'm not here to ask for mercy for him."

"Then why are you here, Victoria?" Ethan asked, leaning back in his leather chair, his fingers steepled together.

Victoria placed the leather journal gently on the desk. "Julian hid assets in overseas accounts that even the federal investigators haven't found yet. Accounts tied to the liquidation of your father’s original estate twenty years ago."

Ethan’s eyes widened slightly. He leaned forward. "Explain."
