The tropical night deepened, sparkling with a million distant stars scattered across the velvet sky like crushed diamonds.
Marcus led Elena down toward the water's edge, where the bioluminescent algae glowed a magical electric blue with every gentle ripple of the tide. Stopping near a smooth driftwood log, he turned to face her, his expression suddenly turning serious, though his eyes shone with absolute joy.
He reached into his jacket pocket and pulled out a small, velvet-covered box.
Elena's breath caught in her throat. Her eyes widened in shock as Marcus slowly dropped to one knee on the warm sand.
"Elena," Marcus began, his voice steady and rich with emotion. "We've built an empire, survived war zones, outsmarted thieves, and torn down corrupt empires together. But out of everything I've ever accomplished, the greatest thing that ever happened to me was walking into your life."
Tears welled up in Elena's eyes, blurring the glittering stars above.
"I don't want to just be your partner in business anymore," Marcus continued, opening the velvet box to reveal a stunning, bespoke diamond ring that caught the moonlight like captured starlight. "I want to be your partner for the rest of our lives. Will you marry me, Elena?"
