Chapter 99 - The Toast of the Century
The reception inside the grand ballroom was an explosion of elegance, laughter, and celebration. Champagne glasses clinked in unison as the chandeliers cast a warm, golden glow over the crowded tables.
Arthur Sterling—now reformed and serving a community mentorship role as part of his parole agreement—stood up with a microphone to deliver the best man speech.
"I used to think strength meant winning at all costs," Arthur said, looking directly at the newlywed couple seated at the head table. "I thought power was about control and domination. But watching Elena and Marcus, I've learned that true strength is about standing together when the world tries to tear you apart, and choosing love, integrity, and forgiveness over vengeance."
The room erupted into roaring applause and cheers.
Marcus stood up, pulling Elena up beside him. He wrapped one arm securely around her waist, raising his champagne flute high into the air.
"To new beginnings," Marcus toasted, locking eyes with his bride. "To leaving the darkness behind, and to the family we are building together."
