Chapter 90 - The Final Confrontation

Lawrence threw a vicious punch, grazing Elena's jaw, but she ducked under his next swing, using her momentum to sweep his legs out from under him. He slipped on the rain-slicked metal edge, sliding halfway off the container, hanging by his fingertips over a fifty-foot drop into the churning black ocean below.

Elena stood above him, chest heaving, rain streaming down her face. She looked down at Lawrence, whose face was twisted in absolute terror.

"Help me!" Lawrence screamed, losing his grip with one hand. "Pull me up!"

Elena reached down, grabbing his jacket collar with both hands and hauling him back up onto the solid surface of the container just as Marcus and the federal agents arrived to slap heavy cuffs around his wrists.

Lawrence collapsed onto the wet steel, gasping for breath, completely defeated.

"Take him away," Elena ordered, her voice ice-cold.

As they led Lawrence away into the waiting squad cars, Marcus walked over, placing a reassuring hand on her shoulder. "It's over, Elena. The hard drives were recovered intact. The Syndicate's network has been permanently dismantled."

Elena looked out over the vast, dark ocean as the first rays of dawn began to pierce the heavy storm clouds, painting the horizon in hues of gold and amber.
