Chapter 84 - Resurrection of Lies

Victor Vance stood before her, a chilling smirk playing on his lips—alive, well, and entirely unapologetic.

For a horrifying moment, the world stopped spinning. Elena felt the ground drop out from beneath her feet. The man who had allegedly perished in the fiery explosion of the old family mansion five years ago, the tragedy that had kickstarted her entire nightmare, was standing mere feet away.

"Surprised, my dear niece?" Victor chuckled, his voice dripping with condescension as he stepped out of the shadows. "Death is such a clumsy concept for amateurs. I merely arranged a very convincing retirement."

Elena forced her jaw to lock, fighting down the wave of nausea and fury threatening to consume her. "You let the world mourn you. You put innocent people through hell, framed your own brother, and tore this family apart—all for what? Greed?"

"Greed?" Victor scoffed, his eyes flashing with manic ambition. "No, Elena. It's about legacy. Your father was weak. He wanted to share the wealth, to play fair in a world built on absolute power. I took back what was rightfully ours, and now, with your newly acquired capital safely transferred into my foundation, the circle is complete."

Elena took a calculated step forward, keeping her voice deathly calm. "You think you've won because of some offshore accounts? You underestimate how far people are willing to go when they have nothing left to lose."

Victor's smile faded, replaced by a dark, dangerous glare. "Is that a threat? Because out here in the dark, nobody hears you scream."
